I created COUCH to ACTIVE in 2016 with one mission in mind.
To get us off the couch and exercising in a way that helps us smile.
Eighty-percent of adults in the United States are not getting in the minimum exercise recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.
We already know this is very bad for our health and we must change.
COUCH to ACTIVE teaches us how to bring exercise back into our lives without sacrificing our responsibilities, passions, and dreams.
HOW it started
Like you, I also have chronic illnesses, a job, a family, and other factors that make today's go-hard-or-go-home fitness mantra difficult to swallow.
Plus, I wanted exercise to come more naturally and HELP ME SMILE.
Fast forward to today: I am a certified personal trainer with multiple certifications. I took my degree in education and 20 years of experience in corporate managing large scale educational projects and mashed it all up into this mission.
I can't help myself.
It's how I'm wired.
I want to help you get there.

I am Lyn Lindbergh, the author of the 6x award winning book COUCH to ACTIVE: The Missing Link that Takes You from Sedentary to Active, host of the COUCH to ACTIVE podcast, blogger, fitness influencer, Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Pilates Instructor, Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and President of COUCH to ACTIVE. I am also the author the upcoming program, How to Start Exercising Again. I call myself "The Bad Couch Guru" because I believe life is better with a wink and a smile.
I have a degree in Education, and I spent 20 years in fortune 500 corporations in Senior Management roles overseeing training programs for companies in technology, sales and marketing, customer care, banking, aerospace, and healthcare. A few of my previous clients are Microsoft, Boeing, AOL, Praxair Industrial Gases, Philips Healthcare, and T-Mobile. The training materials I oversaw were for corporate departments of 10,000 - 30,000 employees.

I'm a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Mat Pilates Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, and Certified Cycling Instructor, and I have taught thousands of people in over a dozen in fitness centers. I'm a fitness influencer, blogger, podcaster, and award winning author.
I have three chronic health issues. Still, I get out and exercise every day. These health issues fuel my compassion for people and my understanding of what it really takes to get moving when life gets in the way. Even with my physical challenges, I have completed the Seattle to Portland 200-mile ride six times, and I've completed multiple half-marathons, 10 triathlons, and countless 5K runs.
My personal favorite type of exercise is anything that gets me outdoors with friends and helps bring me peace of mind. Let's work together and figure out what yours is.
